Why We Strip Roofs Down To The Decking
There’s been a good bit of hail lately, which means we’re busy! We’ve been out at our customers’ homes, giving them great new roofs.
Make Sure It’s In Condition For New Nails
The first thing we do is strip everything down to the decking, which is the plywood base. We pull out all the nails because most people have had more than one roof on their property throughout the life of their plywood decking. We want to make sure your decking is a good, nailable surface before we put more nails into it. If there are too many nails in the plywood, we might hit an old nail when we put down the new nails and it will blow the hole out. We want to avoid that so that you still have good decking underneath your brand-new roof.
What We Add Next
After we make sure your decking is good we put down a leak-proof barrier in all the valleys, and the synthetic felt, and then we bring the shingles up and put them on.
Your Peace of Mind
Once we do all that our customers don’t have to worry about any water leaks or issues with their brand new roof! Give us a call if you need any help with your roof, or if you have any questions. We’d be happy to come out and take a look at your roof!
